Dr. Mobley sees many patients who suffer from various degrees of facial paralysis. Some simply require regular injections of Botulinum Toxin Type-A to balance their facial asymmetry; however, some require more extensive surgical intervention. Dr. Mobley is experienced at determining which options will provide the greatest benefit for his patients. These can include gold weight placement in upper eyelids, correction of lower eyelid ectropion, and facial slings to maximize muscular movement in the paralyzed areas.

The nerve that carries information to the muscles of the face (the facial nerve) is the most commonly paralyzed nerve in the human body. Impairment of this nerve can have a significant effect on the cosmetic, functional, social, and psychological aspects of one’s life. I am the Co-Director of the University of Utah’s Center for Facial Nerve Disorders. At the University, we have assembled a team of experts from a variety of fields whose sole mission is to improve the quality of life of patients with facial nerve disorders through physical rehabilitation, counseling and corrective procedures.
I perform in-office and surgical procedures to treat common facial nerve problems such as trouble with closure of the eye, sagging of the skin of the upper eyelid and eyebrow area, nasal blockage that often affects the paralyzed side of the nose, sagging of the skin of the cheek, trouble pronouncing words due to decreased movement of the lips, and through forming normal facial expressions.
